The Art & Science of Self-Authorship

Your life is both something you experience and something you create

How you understand yourself. What you believe. What you value. What you choose. How you respond to uncertainty. How you relate to other people. What you pursue, what you accept, what you change, and what you make of what you cannot change.

All of it shapes both the life you create and your experience of living it.

The Art & Science of Self-Authorship is dedicated to the study and practice of becoming more deliberate participants in both.

What does it mean to author a life?

None of us begins with a blank page. We are shaped by temperament and biology, by family and culture, by relationships and experiences, by opportunities and constraints, and by circumstances we did not choose. Much of life will always remain outside our control.

But within those realities, we have more influence than we often recognize.

We can become more conscious of what shapes us. We can examine what we believe and reconsider what no longer serves us. We can develop a clearer sense of what matters to us and what we want. We can change how we relate to our thoughts and emotions, to other people, and to uncertainty. We can become more deliberate about the choices we make, the risks we take, what we pursue, what we tolerate, what we leave, and what we build.

Self-authorship is not the promise of complete control over a life. It is the practice of developing greater authorship within one: over who we become, how we participate in our lives, and what we create with what is available to us.

There is a reason I wanted to create this now

At a time when so much about our world, our circumstances, and our futures can feel uncertain, it is easy to feel like a leaf being blown around by the wind, reacting to whatever happens next and waiting for the outside world to settle before we can settle within ourselves.

But these years are still our lives.

I don't want us only to become better at navigating uncertainty. I want us to become better at living within it, to develop a richer awareness of our inner lives and greater influence over our experience of them, so that more of our security, direction, and well-being can come from within rather than depend entirely on what is happening around us.

And I want us to continue creating our lives while also remembering to live them: to experience more joy, presence, connection, curiosity, beauty, meaning, and possibility now, not someday when everything feels certain again.

My hope is that these can still be some of our best years yet.

What is The Art & Science of Self-Authorship?

I created The Art & Science of Self-Authorship as an ongoing place to teach and develop this body of work. It is not a course with a beginning and an end, but a place you can return to regularly, continuing to deepen your understanding and grow alongside the work as it evolves.

The work moves between our inner and outer lives: how we understand ourselves, how we relate to our thoughts and emotions, how we build security and trust within ourselves, how we relate to other people, how we navigate uncertainty and change, what we want and why we want it, what gets in the way of pursuing it, and how we shape lives that increasingly reflect who we want to be and how we want to live.

There is no fixed curriculum to complete. The teaching will evolve over time, drawing from psychology, philosophy, human behavior, my own frameworks and body of work, and the questions and challenges that emerge from those studying with me.

The intention is not to give you a prescribed way to live. It is to offer ideas, frameworks, tools, and new ways of seeing yourself and the world that help you understand yourself and your life more clearly, while expanding your capacity to experience and shape both more deliberately.

Intentional participation without economic exclusion

From the beginning, I made a deliberate decision about how I wanted The Art & Science of Self-Authorship to exist.

I wanted this work to be accessible to a much broader range of people than those who might ordinarily be able to work with me privately or through my other programs. I did not want someone's income or where they happen to live to be the primary reason they could not be part of it.

At the same time, I wanted participation to be intentional. I wanted joining to involve a choice, however small, to make room for this work in your life and engage with it because you genuinely want to be here.

So I made a deliberate decision to separate the price of this membership from the value I place on the work inside it.

The Art & Science of Self-Authorship is not a lower-level, introductory, or simplified version of my work. It is not a lead-in to something else, and its price is not intended to represent what I believe the teaching is worth.

Membership is $10 per month because accessibility is part of the design of this project.

I offer other ways of working with me with very different levels of access, interaction, and investment. I have intentionally designed this one so that cost is unlikely to be the reason someone who genuinely wants to engage with my work cannot do so.

How it works

Membership in The Art & Science of Self-Authorship includes:

  • A weekly 60-minute live session combining teaching and Q&A.

  • The opportunity to submit questions and topic requests, both during and between live sessions.

  • Access to the growing archive of recorded sessions, so you can watch or listen whenever it works for you.

  • Access to supporting resources added alongside the teaching over time.

There is no schedule to keep up with and nothing to complete. You can attend live when you want to, use the archive when it serves you, and remain a member for as long as the work continues to be valuable to you.

Membership is $10 per month, month-to-month, and you can cancel at any time.
